It might be a week early, but Greenfield has chosen to have their Fireworks by the Lake on June 27, along with a full day of fun events leading up to the fabulous light show over the lake.
One good thing about having the fireworks on Saturday, June 27, is that it gives families an opportunity to go to other areas on the actual Fourth of July, which is the following Saturday and partake in other events.
All of the events will take place at Rives Lake (Greenfield Lake) and for those early risers and those who camp at the lake, Sippin’ Pretty will be on hand with their coffee truck serving up their brew beginning at 6 p.m. and running until 6 p.m.
The real fun begins at 11 a.m., however. The kids will enjoy the many different bounce houses that will be on hand, including an obstacle course, waterslide combo and a dual slip ‘n slide. Also at 11 a.m. the Jersey County Garden Tractor Pulls will take place.
Armbands for the bounce houses can be purchased for $5 each and includes a gift certificate for a small ice cream cone or dish of ice cream from Rossco’s Ice Cream Shack.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Greenfield FFA will be set up to do nature related crafts, activities and games with the kids at their FFA Nature Center.
Adults will want to make at least one trip to the Beverage Garden, which also opens at 11 a.m.
For those who are hungry, the FFA will be serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will have pork burgers, pork chop sandwiches, hot dogs, walking tacos and nachos.
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be a fish fry with catfish fritters, buffalo sandwiches, chicken nuggets, fries and cheese fries available.
A benefit auction has been scheduled for 7 p.m. with guest auctioneer Hayden Geisler.
There will be no shortage of musical entertainment, either. From 2 to 4 p.m., Robert Sampson will take the stage, followed by Cash Goetten from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and James Tyler from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. After the fireworks until midnight, the band Branded will be on stage.
James Tyler will also provide musical entertainment throughout the say starting at 11 a.m. in between all of the other entertainment.
The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and sit back and enjoy a full day of musical entertainment prior to the big fireworks show which is set to begin at 9 p.m.
