April showers bring fun for all ages at the library

The Jerseyville Public Library is not afraid of April showers because they know that there is always a lot of fun to be had at the library no matter your age and no matter the weather.
Through the month of April, the Friends of the Library will be selling raffle tickets for a Spring Garden Basket chock full of everything one would need to grow a gorgeous garden. Tickets are $1 for one chance or $5 for six chances. The basket will be on display at the library beginning April 1.
This month’s StoryWalk book is Marigold Bakes a Cake by Mike Malbrough. The StoryWalk book can be read at Wock Lake. This month’s StoryWalk is sponsored in memory of Wendy Delp Kallal by the Andrea Ringhausen family.
Kids in grades kindergarten-seventh are invited to LEGO Club on Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m. As always, plenty of LEGO pieces will be provided for kids to design pieces that will be displayed throughout the month.
The JPL is celebrating National Library Week with themed dress up days and the opportunity to win a book themed gift basket. Library staff are going all out to dress up each day in a different theme and are encouraging visitors to do the same either in person or virtually.

The JPL is happy to announce the return of Crafts with Chris on Tuesday, April 7, at 6:30 p.m. The first 20 people to register by calling 618-498-9514 can make a glittery Orb Bird Feeder. The cost of the craft is $3.50 and includes all materials.
The JPL is hosting their Easter Celebration on Saturday, April 9. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., a variety of activities for younger kids and families will be available. There will be an Easter egg hunt, an Easter egg roll, Easter themed crafts and prizes. The Easter Bunny will also be available for photos. Later in the afternoon at 1 p.m., teens and tweens are invited to watch an Easter movie and snack on “bunny munch mix.”
The JPL will have Wordle Wednesday on April 13 at 10 a.m., where patrons are invited to learn how to play, have coffee, play other games and socialize with each other.
The library is hosting Preschool Story Time on Tuesday, April 26, at 10 a.m. Kids ages 2-6 are invited to read books, listen to music, make crafts and socialize with other kids. Later that day, at 1 p.m., the library will host a Movie Matinee with a screening of Death on the Nile, directed by Kenneth Branagh. Popcorn will be provided, so you just need to bring your favorite drink.
The library is encouraging everyone to come visit the library if they have been staying away due to health concerns. Masks are currently optional.
