The First Baptist Church in Jerseyville took advantage of the sunny weather last Friday, June 3, and held a Summer Kickoff Concert.
Free live music and food were provided, along with games for kids. Local band, In Debt– consisting of members, Charlie Simcox, Chance Trisler, and Tyler Welsh– played a selection of classic rock songs to accompany the evening’s festivities.
First Baptist’s Head Pastor Brent Myer told the Journal he was satisfied with the turnout and is open to the idea of making it an annual gathering.
“We just wanna do something nice for our community,” said Myer. “The Church needs to get outside the walls of its building now and then.”
The event was funded by the church, and attendance was free of charge. Events like this one intend to expand local businesses and bring the community closer, according to Myer.
More community events are being planned throughout Jerseyville, thanks to warmer temperatures that come along with the summer months. Keep an eye out for details in our “What’s Happening” section. New events are added weekly. If you would like your event to be included in this section, submit the information via email to [email protected], or contact us by phone at 618-498-1234.
