Republican State Senator Darren Bailey paid Jersey County a Flag Day visit on Tuesday, June 14, part of his bus tour, as he campaigns for Illinois Governor.
Jersey Republicans came out to show their support at Outrageous Outdoors in Jerseyville at 8:30 a.m., where Bailey was in attendance along with other GOP leaders.
Bailey promised the attendees that he will protect the freedoms of Illinois residents. Bailey will appear on the ballot in the Republican primary on June 28. His running mate is Stephanie Trussell.
Also in attendance, and addressing the crowd, was Republican U.S. Representative Mary Miller. She will also appear on the June 28 primary ballot vying for the newly re-drawn Illinois 15th Congressional District. Miller was endorsed by President Donald Trump.
Additionally, Republican Representative Blaine Wilhour and former Trump Campaign Advisor Steve Cortes were both in attendance and spoke.
Jersey was one of nine counties receiving a visit from the bus tour on Tuesday. It also made stops in Calhoun, Pike, Scott, Morgan, Cass, Menard, Mason, and Fulton. Tuesday’s bus stops were part of a 102 county tour over 14 days.
