Jersey County Sheriff Mike Ringhausen sat down with the community Wednesday morning at Big Boy’s Dounuts for Coffee with a Cop.
As part of the National Coffee with a Cop Day, Sheriff Ringhausen is trying to break down barriers between deputies and other citizens in the community.
Sheriff Ringhausen said its a great opportunity to sit down with the community to listen to their concerns, answer any questions they might have and communicate.
With visitors coming in throughout the morning, Sheriff Ringhausen was able to hear concerns that he said he otherwise wouldn’t, connect on a more personal level and even wish a few people happy birthday.
Sheriff Ringhausen was also able to share some insight into happenings at the department like the new x-ray machine to detect contraband in the jail, and the new visitation program which allows people to signup for video call visitations with inmates.
