39th Annual Greene County Days this weekend

The 39th Annual Greene County Days will take place this weekend beginning on Friday, Sept. 6 and culminating on Sunday, Sept. 8.
There are a variety of events in every major community in Greene County plus hundreds of yard sales which residents also scheduled during this time to take advantage of the traffic brought to town by this event.
Greenfield’s events will be held at Rives Lake on Saturday, Sept. 7 with BBQ by the Lake. Music will begin at 9 a.m. with the band Brushville with food being served starting at 11 a.m. The beer garden also opens at 11 a.m.
At 3 p.m. the BBQ Sampling will begin as the Elderly Brothers take the stage from 3-6 p.m. Jewel the Ice Cream Truck will be serving up ice cream starting at 3 p.m. as well.
Carrollton’s events will be all three days – from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Events will take place on the courthouse lawn.
They have lined up over 40 vendors ranging from jewelry to designer tumblers to antiques. The DVD guy will also be in attendance again this year. There will also be a booth selling freeze dried candy, which is becoming all the rage these days.
There will also be a display of John Deere tractors. Food available will include Mel’s Snack Shack, the Knights of Columbus fish, kettle corn and pork rinds and Amy Pembrook’s baked good. A DJ will be playing all the hits on Friday and Saturday.
Also in Carrollton, the Greene County Historical Society, located on the Square, will be open for tours on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Just down the road, Greene Fields Farm will have their opening weekend on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12-5 p.m. They are giving away a free apple cider with every mum purchased or u-pick zinnia bouquet purchase. There are lots of events for the kids.
In Roodhouse, events take place on the square where dozens of vendors will be set up as well as food trucks to feed the many shoppers. On Friday, Midwest Avenue will take the stage from 5 to 8 p.m.
For the kids, there will be bounce houses all three days and the popular rock climbing wall will be there on Saturday. All of this is free for the kids thanks to the Roodhouse Police Department.
Saturday has always been the big day beginning at 9 a.m. with a 3 on 3 contest followed by the parade at 10 a.m. Whiskey Driven will be on stage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by the talent show from 2 to 4 p.m.
The big event, however, is the Greene County Days Queen Pageant, which begins at 6 p.m. There are nine candidates vying for Miss Greene County Days, nine in the Jr. Miss category and 8 competing for Little Miss.
In White Hall, events take place in Whiteside Park on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be multiple vendors including lots of stoneware and antiques plus a wide variety of other items. On the food front, they will have homemade chicken and noodles and the Lion’s Club’s famous BBQ.
There will be bingo on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a kid’s tent, also on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Down the road at Lions Park will be the White Hall Drag-0-Way Reunion featuring 100’s of vintage cars on display, will take place on Saturday.
