The Catholic Daughters of the Americas of Court St. Joan #522 met September 7, 2021, near the gazebo at St. John the Evangelist Church.
Regent Denise Sanders opened the meeting with prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Secretary Alice Massey led a prayer for Marjorie Cordes whose funeral was this morning at St. John Church. She had been a member for70 years. CDA stood honor guard as two members were the cantors for Mass.
Secretary Alice Massey read the June 4 minutes. Treasurer Mary Jane Schofield reported. Annual dues of $20.00 per member were collected this evening.
Former pastor of the Greene County parishes, Reverend Mariadas Chatla, was returning to India, his home country, on Sept. 16. State Regent Patty Head informed of workshops on 10/16 Ottowa, Court Santa Maria #236 and 10/23 Dubois, Court Lourdes 1790.
This year, we will be focusing on prayer and reflection. The Our Father will be prayed in a candle lighting ceremony using the idea found among CDA memorabilia of deceased member Kathleen Kania. Regent Sanders said the Junior CDA had done this one year.
Mary Dawdy – greeting cards. Education Contest – Each of these State winners in the 2021 contest were first place winners in the local contest. Division 1 (grades 4-5) Computer Art – Maggie Custer 2nd, Poetry – Chloe McAdams 3rd. Division 2 (grades 6-7-8) Computer Art – Nathan Joehl 1st; Photography – Katera Ulery 3rd. Division 4 (CDA) Photography – Melia Sibley 1st, Poetry – Denise Sanders 1st. Missy Palen will give the awards at school. As announced at the June 1 meeting, the 2020 State winners included, Division 2: Computer Art – Nathan Joehl also 1st place National winner; and Division 1: Essay- Henry Gramelspacher 2nd. The 2022 Education Contest themes are “With God all things are possible” and “Where is God in my life when I am struggling.”
Our Father was prayed during a ceremony with candles representing parts of the prayer. Officers Denise Sanders, Alice Massey, and Mary Jane Schofield led the prayer.
Phyllis Didier is the new Spiritual Enrichment chairman replacing Betty Mullink who followed Barbara Rawe. Phyllis led us in the prayer to St. Joseph in this Year of St. Joseph.
Margie Shade and Theresa Strahan displayed the America Needs Fatima banner. A public rosary will be prayed Saturday, Oct. 16, at noon.

The history of Court St. Joan continues to be honored on “the Rock” which began June 20, 2020.
The birthdays were honored with the Birthday song: July- Mary Dawdy, August – Carolyn Howland, September Mary Helen Isringhausen.
Suggestions are welcome for speakers and topics. The meeting closed with prayer with the next meeting being at 7 pm, Oct. 1 at the K.C. Hall, New members are welcome!
