This past Friday, Jerseyville welcomed a new business on Main Street, much to the delight of local residents. Purple Daisy gifts, owned by Catrina Groves, is yet another addition to the expanding business sector of Jerseyville.
Adorned with stylish, fun, and artsy items, Purple Daisy projects an environment that catches shoppers’ eyes. Beth Bear, from the Jersey County Business Association (JCBA), reflected on the grand opening, “The people here have so many ideas. They are very passionate, and that’s so important for small businesses”.
Opening day started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Pouring rain didn’t deter people from standing outside, eager to get a taste of the new shop. As a sign of appreciation, customers were thanked with gift bags and snacks when the doors opened for its first day of business at 11 a.m.
Groves, a Jersey County native, said her goal is to not only expand her own shop, but to help her vendors, and the community she loves, grow. “I love it here,” she said through tears. “When I come around, people here know my name and it means so much. I’m happy to be able to open a store in this area.”

Purple Daisy’s main vendor is Artisan’s Enigma, owned by Teresa Laubscher. The vendor sells boutique items such as clothing, handbags, shoes, and more. She sold her products at the Gift Box and a salon in Godfrey. Laubscher also shared her enthusiasm about the new business venture. “Jerseyville is my hometown, and I’m excited to be able to sell my items here,” she stated. “Hometown pride!”
Tiffany Blasa of Wild Roots is also going to be calling Purple Daisy home. This vendor has never sold her items in a physical location and is looking forward to this new chapter for her business. “I’m excited that people will be able to come look through my stuff and buy it in person, so they won’t have to pay shipping charges,” she said.
Purple Daisy offers a variety of gift and boutique items as well as bath and body products and more. They specialize in locally sourced, and handmade items, across the 618 and 217 area codes. The store is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m. More information can be found on the Purple Daisy Gifts’ Facebook page.
