The Jerseyville Public Library is looking forward to seeing your faces. Per the recently updated mandates, masks are no longer required; however, you are welcome to continue to wear a mask if you wish. The library, like Spring, is busting out with new programming and tons of fun community activities for the young and not so young.
The always popular LEGO club continues the first Saturday of each month with this month’s falling on Saturday, March 5, at 10 a.m. Ages Kindergarten through 7th grade are encouraged to tap into their creative side and build some LEGO masterpieces.
A new social club will be introduced on Wednesday, March 9, at 10 a.m. Join the library for Wordle Wednesday (Wordle is the new online Word game that has blown up the internet of late) and participants will have the chance to guess the word of the day, enjoy some coffee and a snack and socialize with others by playing cards or whatever you wish to start your day with some fun and relaxation.
For those Bingo lovers out there, in honor of the upcoming National Library Week, you may pick up a game sheet to play Bingo on the Go from March 14-April 8. Complete fun library related tasks (most can be accomplished from home), get a Bingo and when you turn in your sheet you will be entered to win a Jersey County Business Association gift certificate, good at many businesses in Jerseyville. You may Bingo more than once by picking up additional game sheets.
Kindergarten through 7th grade kiddos are welcome to join the library for this popular event, Full STEAM Ahead on Wednesday, March 16, from 4-5 p.m. Registration is required by calling the library at (618) 498-9514. The STEAM theme is “water” and the children will be making floating marker pictures, blooming paper flowers, walking rainbows and more!
Preschool children (ages 2-6) are invited to Preschool Story Time on Tuesday, March 22, at 10 a.m. to socialize with other children their age, to hear some stories, participate in some silly songs and make a craft.
The Movie Matinee was very well attended last month and will be repeated this month on Tuesday, March 22, at 1 p.m. with a showing of the latest version of “West Side Story” directed by Steven Spielberg. You bring your favorite drink and the library will provide the fresh popped popcorn!
Saturday, March 26, at 11 a.m. bring your Hotwheels or Matchbox cars to swap at the Hotwheels/Matchbox Swap. This is primarily for kids but other collectors are welcome too! Bring a maximum of 10 cars to trade. A small number of cars will be available if you don’t have any.
Be sure to visit the StoryWalk® at Wock Lake throughout the month to enjoy a book as you walk around the lake taking in the fresh air and beautiful setting. This month’s book is “I Promise” by LeBron James. Be sure to look for the I Promise Bookmark Contest at the end for a chance to win a prize.
Be sure to pop into the library frequently to participate in other fun activities inside the library building including a chance for your kids to grab a piece of the library Leprechaun’s “gold” and check out the library Newsletter at their website www.jerseyvillelibrary.org to see how you can participate with the Staff during the week of April 4-8 with Dress up with the Library Staff and be in the running for a basket of library themed goodies.
