Students from the piano teaching studio of Gretchen B. Taylor will present a recital of varied piano selections, including original selections composed by Mrs. Taylor for each of her students, on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Jerseyville Methodist Church.
Four students will be sharing one of two selections performed for a recent piano festival event in conjunction with the Illinois Federation of Music Clubs, and one graduating senior will be performing two of her own original compositions entered into the Federation’s District and State composition contest, both receiving first place wins.
Studio awards, Gold cups, and special recognitions will be presented at the end of the recital. Participating students are Abigail Wedig, Kimberlee Ford, Hope Brandt, Emmersyn and Paxton Weirich, Reagan McCoy, Mason Weber, Quinn Whittman, and Abigail Piaza. Mrs. Taylor will open the program with a performance of a piece she composed while in college.
The recital is free and open to family, friends and music enthusiasts and should last approximately one hour.
