Search warrant nets two arrests

The Pittsfield Police Department, armed with a court-authorized search warrant, arrested two people April 21 in the 500 block of North Dutton Street.
Officers arrested James R. (Rick) Merryman, 55, of Pittsfield. Merryman has been charged by Pike County State’s Attorney Zack Boren with possession of methamphetamine and two counts of theft. Merryman is currently lodged in the Morgan County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.
Officers also arrested Ashley E. Niffen, 36, of Pittsfield. Niffen has been charged by Pike County State’s Attorney Zack Boren with one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of theft. Niffen is currently lodged in the Pike County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.
During the execution of the search warrant, officers located and seized methamphetamine, methamphetamine paraphernalia and stolen property.
Pittsfield City Police Chief, Michael Starman said the investigation is still on-going.
