Colby Kanallakan
A 2022 Jersey Community High School graduate has received a prestigious award from the United States Army. PV2 Colby Kanallakan, a member of the 1st Battalion 19th Field Artillery at Fort Sill, Okla., was given the Private Louis Birtz Award on Friday, Aug. 12, when he graduated from basic training.
Kanallakan’s hard work, dedication, and desire to become an outstanding soldier resulted in his selection as the Private Louis Birtz award recipient. The battery chain of command recognizes this soldier as the most improved in his class.
Kanallakan, the son of John and Amy Kanallakan of Jerseyville, is currently training for his MOS as a combat medic.
