The North Greene Lady Spartan volleyball team kicked off their season on the road last week traveling to Bunker Hill on Monday, Aug. 22, where they fell after three close games.
The Lady Spartans started off strong, taking the first games from the Lady Minutemaids 25-18, but Bunker Hill came back in the second game with some solid play and ended up taking that game 17-25.
In the third game, the Lady Spartans put up a valiant effort, but ended up falling 20-25.
Against Bunker Hill, Alana Jackson had 13 serves with 4 aces and 3 kills. Madison Blacketter had 16 digs. Martha Martinez added 8 digs and had 6 serves with 1 ace. Chelsey Castleberry had 7 serves with 2 of them being aces, added in 3 kills and had 28 assists. Kaylie Woolsey had 3 kills and 3 aces and Olivia Jones had 7 serves with 2 aces and 16 assists.
On Thursday, the Lady Spartans were on the road again, this time in Greenview. The young team showed heart and hustle, but ultimately lost the contest in two close sets 21-25 and 17-25.
