The 24th annual Fall Harvest Festival is coming this weekend, beginning Friday, Sep 16 and going through Sunday, Sept. 18. The festival, organized by the St. Francis Holy Ghost catholic school, is highly anticipated each year by local residents. For it serves as a welcome wagon into the coming season. This year’s event is expected to exceed expectations, according to school staff.
“We’re excited about this year’s festival. It’s a great community event. It’s not just limited to our church family, but also to families from all over our area,” said Principal Dennis Cramsey.
The festival features plenty to do for all ages, including games, raffles, bingo, and a basket drop. Several food stands will be up during the event, selling foods such as fried fish, grilled pork chops, and roasted sweet corn. A stocked country store filled with crafts, baked goods, and many other items will also be on the festival grounds. Live entertainment will provide music throughout the event and there will also be a beer tent for individuals 21 and older.
“This year we’re expecting big crowds, we know that community-wide people will come and enjoy themselves,” Cramsey said.
All proceeds from the festival are donated back to the school along with other donations by local businesses and church families. This is just one of many celebrations Jersey County is hosting as locals welcome the chilly air and turning leaves.
