Six players scored eight points or more as West Central beat Calhoun 63-30 in boys’ basketball Dec. 13 at Bluffs.West Central led just 8-6 in the first quarter before Dalton Hutton scored seven straight points. Hutton scored with 37 seconds remaining, and the Cougars led 15-6 after one quarter.The Cougars scored 28 points in the second quarter and led 43-13 at halftime. Zack Evans scored seven points in the quarter, and Tyson Brown scored six.Brown made a three-point basket to start the third quarter, and Evans scored to increase the lead to 48-13. Chance Little scored to give West Central its biggest lead, 56-17. They led 58-22 after three quarters.Brown scored 11 points to lead West Central. Little scored 10 points and had nine rebounds, and Jaydon Howard scored 10 points and had eight rebounds.Evans scored nine points and had six assists. Carson Brown scored nine points, and Hutton scored eight. Mason Berry scored four points and had seven assists and six rebounds. Rylen Shaw scored two points.Calhoun won the junior varsity game 57-48 in overtime.Landyn Woods scored 15 points for West Central, and Caden Meyer scored 12. Cameron Sievers scored 10 points. Zac Howard scored six points, and Nick Hamilton scored four. Ryker Ford scored one point.
