Alton Memorial Hospital (AMH) announced that their first baby delivery of 2023 took place “a bit later than usual,” at 6:18 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1.
The New Year’s baby is Lucas Timothy Smith who was born to Megan and David Smith of Hardin, Ill. He weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 20 inches long at his birth. Lucas was delivered by Dr. Joseph Talsky.
Lucas is the third child for Megan and David who also have a 5-year-old son, Gauge; and a 4-year-old daughter, Lillian. Young Lucas has roots in both Jersey and Calhoun counties, as he’s the grandson of Michael and Brenda Smith of Jerseyville, and Tim and Michele Herter of Hardin.
David works for Tetratech and Megan is a CNA at Jersey Community Hospital.
