Warriors face West Central in Winchester Invitational Tournament

The Warriors headed to Winchester over the weekend for the 100th Annual Winchester Invitational Tournament.
Day one of the Winchester Invitational saw the Warriors fall to West Central, 68-34 with Routt over Triopia, 55-52, Payson-Seymour over Pleasant Hill, 62-35, Brown County over Carrollton, 68-30, Camp Point Central over Western, 60-29, Porta over Carlinville, 72-40, Greenfield/Northwestern over Liberty, 62-41 and Griggsville-Perry over North Greene, 72-36.
Routt beat Payson on Monday in day two of the tournament. Payson tied things up from the foul line in the fourth quarter sending the game into overtime when Routt took a six-point victory over Payson, 76-70. Day two also saw Camp Point Central defeat Brown County, 49-40.
In celebration of the 100 years, several teams, players, coaches, referees and more are being recognized at the tournament including members of the 1986 Calhoun Warriors Championship team.
Throughout the week, event organizers have been updating the tournaments Facebook page with interesting history of the states of oldest basketball tournament. The information spotlights everything from tournament records to tournament atheletes who have gone on play professional sports.
The Warriors are set to play against North Greene at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, and will be streamed, along with all other games, on the Winchester School’s Youtube page, youtube.com/WCAtheltics. Photos on A8.CNH
