Crews worked on laying the turf and graphics on the new field at JCHS last week. The field is set to be complete in a couple weeks in time for the first girls soccer game of the season on March 15.
Progress is moving along at Jersey Community High School as the new turf field is nearly complete.
Crews have already laid the turf for the field and a three-lane track, and have graphics down waiting to be sewn in place.
JCHS Athletic Director Rob Steinkuehler said that it looks phenomenal and is excited to have the new field that will not only host home soccer games, but serve other programs at the school as well.
“That’s what’s so great about having this field on campus, our athletic teams have access to it, our physical education program has access to it, our band has access to it. It’s really a great facility,” Steinkuehler said.
With spring sports starting next month the field is expected to be completed in time for the first
“They should be laying the sand and rubber pellets next week and think that’s like a three or four day process, but once that’s in we’re ready to go,” he said.
Steinkuehler added that if it weren’t for the communitie’s support of the sales tax that went toward the schools and the completion of the turf field, the project wouldn’t have been possible.
“I want to make sure we give credit where credit is due,” he said. “Without the support, the completion wouldn’t have been possible.”
The girls soccer team is set to host their season-opening home game on the new turf on Wednesday, March 15, at 5:30 p.m.
