Shoe drop off this weekend at G-P High

Congratulations to GP sophomore, Peyton Syrcle, on earning the title of “March Student of the Month!” Peyton is described as “being respectful to others, a loyal friend and has a strong work ethic.” She hopes to be a nurse one day. Peyton is the daughter of Heather Main and David Syrcle, Jr.
Congratulations to these GP FFA Chapter members on their accomplishments in the Ag Mech CDE: Eli White, fourth overall in surveying; Lexie Lipcaman, first overall overall in carpentry; and Jack Shoemaker, first overall in ag power. Way to work!
GP Schools are hoping to offer a summer camp/summer school opportunity for their students. Tentatively, GP would offer a two-week session in June and another two-week session in July. Sessions would be from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., four days/week, and students would receive breakfast and lunch each day. In order to determine how many teachers/staff are needed, the school is asking for parents/guardians to complete a survey on the school’s Facebook page (Griggsville-Perry School District) by March 31. Please note that completing the survey does not guarantee a spot in the summer program.
The GP sophomore class will have a drive-by shoe drop-off April 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Drive up to the south end of the high school building and class members will take any shoes to be dropped off for their fundraiser. Shoes should be slightly used or new and will be sent to other countries to help young businessmen make money to help their families.
The Griggsville Estates will host an Easter Egg hunt April 1 at 2 p.m. at The Estates. This event is open to any child 0-10 years of age living within the Griggsville community. Rain date will be April 8.
The Village of Perry will host an Easter Egg hunt April 1at 1p.m. in Perry Park. This event is limited to children living in the Perry/Fishhook area.
Illini Community Hospital and the Griggsville Christian Church have partnered with the Central Illinois Food Bank to host a food distribution for the first two hundred families present April 1 at 9 a.m. at the Griggsville Fairgrounds. Please enter at the park entrance on West Washington and continue to the fairgrounds.
The Bright Star Parish of the UMC will host the following Holy Week and Easter events: April 6 at 7 p.m. – Holy Thursday Service with communion at Perry UMC
April 7 at 7 p.m. – Community Good Friday Service at Griggsville UMC
April 9 at 6 a.m. Easter Sunday Sunrise Services at Cedar Cave near Detroit at 6 a.m; Perry UMC at 6 a,m, followed by a breakfast; Griggsville UMC at 7 a.m., with Church of the Nazarene providing the speaker and followed by a breakfast; New Salem UMC at 7:30 a.m.
