The Jersey City Council held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 21.
The first order of business addressed by the council was a possible motion to approve a preliminary plat for First MidAmerica Subdivision. After deliberation involving future plans of the plat, the council approved the motion. The second item addressed by the council was to approve the final plat of the subdivision plan. The council approved that motion as well.
The third order of business was a possible 90 day extension of the temporary 90 day moratorium on the location of and zoning petitions for the locations of adult use cannabis business and related paraphernalia business. The motion was approved unanimously by the council.
Next came a possible motion to approve a resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement for participation in the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS). MABAS is a statewide mutual aid response system for fire, EMS and specialized incident operational units. The council approved the motion to approve the MABAS system.
The next motions brought before the council concerned financial accounts. The first of these two motions were a possible resolution authorizing the city clerk to open a checking account for the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Pleasant Street drainage project. The second motion was a resolution to authorize the city clerk to open a checking account for the DCEO Susnig Complex roof project. Both motions were approved by the council.
The final two motions of the meeting concerned the Susnig Complex further. The first motion was a possible approval of a notice of award for the bid of the Susnig Complex building improvements.The second was a possible approval of a notice of award for the bid of the Susing roof and HVAC improvements. Both motions would also authorize the mayor, city clerk, and director of public works to sign the bid paperwork. Both motions were approved before the meeting adjourned.
The Jerseyville City Council meets every other Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The council is scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, April 4.
