The Jerseyville City Council met on Tuesday, where several items were approved pertaining to spring.
After the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance, the council approved the minutes from the previous meeting on April 4 and the bills as presented on April 18.
The first item addressed was a motion to approve a fundraising event for the Special Olympics on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The council approved the motion.
The next motion concerned a resolution from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and its closure of Highway 267 and State Rd. for a Memorial Day parade on May 29. The motion was approved, and the event is scheduled to start at 9 a.m., hosted by the VFW.
The third motion brought before the council was the possible proclamation of Professional Municipal Clerks Week. This would run from April 30 until May 6. The council approved this motion as well, and the week will go ahead as planned.
The council then addressed the prices for dumpster stickers. Currently, the annual fee for stickers is $125. The council voted to raise it to $135 from May 2023 through April 2024.
The last two motions brought before the council were the Capital Projects Improvement Plan Phase II funding and a motion concerning using tax increment funding (TIF) for eligible project expenses within the capital project improvements phase as approved by the TIF advisory board. Both motions were approved. No specific cost details were available, however. The meeting was adjourned with no public comment.
The Jerseyville City Council is scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, May 2, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
