Barbara ‘June’ Springer | 91 | Pittsfield

Barbara “June” Thomas Springer stepped into Glory on May 15, 2023 in Pittsfield, IL. June had recently been under a doctor’s care.
June was born Aug. 14, 1931 in Pleasant Hill, a daughter of Harry Glenn Thomas and Clarice Zoe Huber Thomas. She married Jack D. Springer on May 28, 1950. Jack preceded her in death on July 17, 1983.
June was a proud Southern Baptist and passionate about her Lord, serving Him for over eighty years. She taught Sunday school for years and participated in many activities at the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill, where she attended her entire lifetime.
June loved writing. She wrote songs, poems, short stories and a book titled “Wagons West”; she loved reading (particularly audio books), doing puzzle books, watching her favorite preachers and the Gaithers. June had a wealth of knowledge about Pleasant Hill, its people and excelled at putting names to faces in long-lost pictures. That will be missed by so many. June lived within a two-block radius throughout her life.
June was crowned Pike County Fair Queen in August 1948.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Kim (Lynne) Springer, Susan Kay (James) Waits, Kathy June (Mick) McBride, Kerry Jack (Judy) Springer, John Paul Springer and Joseph Adam (Susan) Springer, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a brother, H. Glenn (Virginia) Thomas.
