Dudley and Alice Motley, formerly of Pittsfield, will celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary with a celebration 12-3p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the Pike County Senior Citizens Center. Friends and family are invited.
Mrs. Motley is the former Alice Fisher, daughter of the late Albin and Bernice Fisher of Nebo and Pittsfield. Mr. Motley is the son of the late William Motley and Lena Motley Daniels of Pleasant Hill. The Motley’s were married June 20, 1965 at the Nebo Christian Church by Reverend Walter Fleming. They lived in Granville, Oglesby, and Godfrey before residing for 45 years in Pittsfield. Since 2018, Dudley and Alice have lived at Concordia Village, Apt 119, 4101 W. Iles Ave, Springfield, IL (62711).
The Motley’s are the parents of Pamela Chmielewski of Latham, and Allen Motley (Cathy) of Pittsfield. Their grandchildren include Jacob Baughman of Taylorville, Rebekah Greenslaugh (Nicholas) of Lincoln, Nicole Motley (Brenton) of Pittsfield, and Austin Motley of Pittsfield. They have one great-grandchild, Elena SueAnn Noble. Mrs. Motley obtained bachelor and master’s degrees in business education, taught classes at Granville and LaSalle-Peru high schools and John Wood Community College (Pittsfield extension). She was office manager at the Counseling Center and Illini Rehab, and served as physicians’ office manager and Nutritional Counselor at Illini Hospital.
Mr. Motley worked as a carpenter in multiple Illinois cities, then owned and operated Pike County Cabinets in Rockport and American Custom Cabinets in Pittsfield. He then began creating HO scale buildings for train layouts and was active in train clubs and shows. While in Pittsfield, the Motley’s were long-time members of the Detroit Christian Church, and were heavily involved in Boy/Girl Scouting, BPW, car racing, and the Pittsfield Women’s Investment Club.
Dudley and Alice are currently active in various groups and activities at the Concordia Village Community where they reside. They attend Westside Christian Church in Springfield, in addition to spending as much time as possible with their family.
They would love to see you at their anniversary celebration June 10.
