John M. Roos, 71, Jerseyville, died Sunday, June 9, after a motorcycle accident two miles south of Pearl, near 135th Avenue.The incident was reported at 3:59 p.m.

According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Roos was northbound on State Highway 54 when a deer ran into his path. Roos struck the deer and lost control of the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting at the scene was the Spring Creek Fire Department and Pike County EMS.
