The Brooks family received a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Grafton and the Grafton Chamber of Commerce at the September city council meeting.
Throughout the summer the Peg and Mike Brooks along with their daughter Nickie organized the weekly Music in the Park concert series at the Grove Memorial Park, and welcomed tons of visitors to the city while spotlighting some of the communities favorite local musicians.
“Music in the Park continually brings people into Grafton every week, the park is always packed with people listening to the bands and with children playing on the new playground. While the Chamber of Commerce actively supports this activity, the Brooks family truly makes it happen,” Grafton Mayor Mike Morrow said.
“Bands love our park,” Peg Brooks said. “They like playing for us because people actually listen to their music. Most of the 2024 season is already booked, bands are eager to return to Grafton.”
Christine Petrea also received a Certificate of Appreciation for her help with a successful Family Fun Day and grand opening of the city’s new pickleball courts last month. Weather caused the original date of the event to be rescheduled along with everything from food to musicians to be rescheduled.
“There was a job to be done, so with great helpers, we just did it,” Petrea said.
Alderwoman Donna Smith, with the Community Outreach Committee had high praises for Petrea, who didn’t let the delay prevent a great event.
“Chris has stepped up as chairman of the Family Day committee, putting her amazing organizational skills to good use for the families and children of Grafton in spite of a busy personal and professional life. With Chris in charge, I know everything will be done to the last detail,” Smith said.
