Greenfield-Northwestern forced six turnovers and beat West Central 34-6 in football Sept. 29 at Greenfield.
The Cougars (4-2) will play at North Greene Saturday at 1 p.m. The Spartans are 0-5 after falling to Pleasant Hill 28-14 last week.
Greenfield-Northwestern, the No. 5 ranked team in Class 1A, scored on a 26-yard pass and led 6-0 after its first possession.
West Central got two first downs and drove to the Greenfield-Northwestern 25-yard line but lost a fumble on its first possession.
The Tigers scored on a 49-yard pass and added the conversion to increase its lead to 14-0.
Chance Little had 36-yard run, and West Central had a first-and-goal at the Greenfield-Northwestern 4-yard line on its next drive. The Cougars ended up turning the ball over on downs.
Greenfield-Northwestern scored on pass plays of six and nine yards in the second quarter and led 26-0 at halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Greenfield-Northwestern scored on a 1-yard pass play in the fourth quarter.
West Central used the running of Little and Mason Berry to drive 64 yards in 12 plays for its touchdown.
Ryker Ford capped off the drive by scoring on a 2-yard run with 5:06 remaining in the game. Little carried the ball five times, and Berry carried the three times during the drive.
Greenfield-Northwestern finished with 16 first downs and 339 yards of offense in the game. They ran for 125 yards on 28 carries and gained 214 passing. Greenfield-Northwestern recovered three West Central fumbles and intercepted three passes.
The Cougars finished with 305 yards of offense and 14 first downs. They ran for 280 yards on 44 attempts.
Little ran for 112 yards on 15 attempts. Ford ran for 62 yards on nine attempts. Berry ran for 61 yards on 11 attempts. Owen Barber ran for 29 yards on six attempts, and Conner Turner ran for 16 yards on three attempts.
Ford completed two of eight passes for 25 yards. Little caught one pass for 16 yards, and Landyn Woods caught one pass for nine yards.
Little has 12 tackles for West Central’s defense. Turner and Carson each had 11 tackles. Barber had nine.
