The Jerseyville City Council held their regular meeting Tuesday, Oct. 17, approving a TIF grant and the appointment of a new fireman.
After approval of the bills, approximately $405,000, and approval of the previous meeting’s minutes, council went on to approve a grant following a recommendation from the TIF advisory board.
The commercial building improvement grant is for a large project submitted by Barbara Tracy and Alton Ledwig for facade improvements at 203 South State Street.
The council said the improvements will include new windows and door on the store front. The board approved the item unanimously with council member Steckle abstaining.
In other new business, the council approved an Illinois Department of Transportation joint funding agreement for Hollow Avenue roadway improvement projects. After a brief discussion the item moved forward with approval for the mayor, city clerk and public works to sign associated paperwork.
City council also approved the appointment of Matt Rogers to the Jerseyville Fire Department.
During a brief discussion it was stated that Rogers had been a member of the fire department in the past and has now returned to town.
Before closing, Mayor Stork announced that the next council meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. rather than Tuesday to accommodate for trick or treating.
