Oct. 26 marked the 50th wedding anniversary of Gene and Cheri Myers of rural New Salem. They were married Oct. 26, 1973 in the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield by Rev. Roy Ferguson. They have been blessed with two children, Brian Myers (wife Margaret) of High Springs, Fla. and Emily Myers (Mark Schneider) of Dongola and two grandchildren, Tim Myers, who has moved from Florida to Illinois to join the family farm and Tony Myers, a senior at Santa Fe High School in High Springs, Fla.
Gene is employed as a farmer; Cheri is retired from the University of Illinois Extension.
Gene’s parents are the late Harold and Mary Ann Robertson Myers of Summer Hill and Cheri’s parents are the late Lewis and Miriam Dunham Dell of New Salem. Anyone who is acquainted with the couple knows that there have been very few dull moments in all those years.
