The Jerseyville City Council finished out the year with a short meeting on Wednesday December, 27. After approving the December 12 meeting’s minutes, the council quickly worked through their new business.
The Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with Grafton and Jersey County for shared usage of the Jerseyville Animal Control Facility. Some version of this type of agreement had been in place previously, but it has lapsed in recent years. Brighton was originally included in the proposal, but they opted to not be included because they did not feel it was needed for them.
The proposal clarifies some of the language in the agreement, mainly regarding how Jerseyville’s Animal Control Facility staff will be paid for their work. For example, if there is a call about an animal located in Jersey County, then the County will compensate Animal Control for their work.
The Council also approved a $250,000 grant agreement with the American Water Charitable Foundation to help pay for the splash pad that is to be installed at Lions Club Park by Water Odyssey that was discussed at the December 13 meeting. The splash pad is a part of the second phase of the improvements that have been made to Lions Club Park.
The Council also announced that registration is now open for the Jerseyville Parks & Recreation’s Annual Daddy/Daughter Dance for children ages 3-12 is now open. The dance is scheduled for February 16, 17, and 18. The deadline to register is Saturday, February 3. The form is available online at www.parks.jerseyville-il.us/father-daughter-dance.
Due to construction taking place in City Hall, Jerseyville City Council meetings will be held in the Feyerabend building at 209 East Spruce Street until further notice starting Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 6 p.m. Meetings can also be accessed over the phone.
