Chance Little scored 25 points to lead West Central to a 67-61 win over Camp Point Central Feb. 13 at Camp Point.
The Cougars finished the regular season 28-3. They began regional play against I.S.D Monday night at Winchester. The semifinals and championship game will be at Liberty.
Camp Point Central (20-8) got a three-point basket at the end of the second quarter and led 37-30 at halftime.
West Central started the third quarter with a 14-2 run to take the lead.
Carson Brown scored off an assist from Zack Evans to start the quarter. Evans scored, and Chance Little made one of two free throws to close the deficit to two points. Evans grabbed an offensive rebound and scored with 5:39 remaining in the quarter to tie the game.
Camp Point Central scored to retake the lead, but the Cougars answered with seven straight points.
Evans made two free throws, Little scored twice and West Central led 43-39. Mason Berry made one of two free throws, and the Cougars led 44-39 with 3:28 remaining in the quarter.
West Central scored the final eight points of the quarter to take a 52-41 lead.
Evans and Little each made two free throws, and Brown scored. Evans capped off the quarter with a steal and dunk to give West Central an 11 point lead.
Camp Point Camp got within 57-51, but Cameron Sievers scored with 3:32 remaining to extend the lead to eight points.
Evans made two free throws with 8 seconds remaining to seal the win after Camp Point Central got within 65-61.
Evans scored, and West Central led 6-5 early in the game. Camp Point Central scored the next six points and led 11-6. They led by as much as nine points, 21-12, in the first quarter but Evans and Little both scored to cut the margin to five points after one quarter.
Camp Point Central led 30-21 in the second quarter. Little scored four points, and the Cougars trailed 30-25. West Central trailed 34-30 before Camp Point Central made a three-point basket at the buzzer and led by seven at halftime.
Evans scored 18 points, including 14 in the second half and went 8-for-8 from the free throw line for West Central. Berry scored 12 points.
Brown scored six points, and Ryker Ford scored four. Sievers scored two points.
Three players scored in double figures, and West Central won the junior varsity game 64-35.
Gabe Howard and Charlie Smith each scored 12 points. Nick Hamilton scored nine.
Leighton Smith scored nine points, and Anthony Hance scored six. Zac Howard and Blayne Sidwell each scored five points. Carson Clevenger scored four points, and Landon Wahl scored one.
