The Jersey Community Unit District 100 Board of Education approved several items on their agenda at their most recent meeting on Thursday, March 21.
After hearing the student report the board went on to approve the consent agenda which included approving previous minutes, the budget report and approving expenditures before moving on to action items.
The board heard from Mr. Breden about bids for tuck-pointing and waterproofing at East Elementary and the high school before approving a bid for the work.
“We were just in the building today at East Elementary and paint is bubbling off the walls,” he said. “That moister is getting in there through those bricks and it’s not able to get out.”
The board also accepted a bid for fencing at East Elementary. Braden said four bids were submitted for the project which replace about 1,300 feet of fence which will include a black powder coating. A motion was approved to accept the bid for $72,550 plus $4,750 for the coating for the fencing.
The board also approved a motion for the destruction of board audio and digital recordings. There are numerous old recordings that are no longer needed, and although the recordings will be destroyed the board meeting minutes will still be kept.
The board also approved two separate motions for the Illinois High School Association membership and Illinois Elementary School Association membership.
Other action items approved by the board included a resolution for bus purchases, updates to the student handbooks and discipline policy, approved 2024-25 district fees, approved consolidated district plan, approved district summer camps, and a TJ’s Pizza fundraiser.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 18.
