Several Pike athletes heading to state track meet this weekend

After last week’s track sectionals, several Pike County Junior High students punched their ticket to the state tournament.
From Pleasant Hill; Kate Hubbard, high jump, with a jump of 4-11. This jump broke her own record, 4-10, which had held for 49 years. She set the new mark two weeks ago at the conference track meet at Carrollton. Four-11 is the record for the 1A eighth grade girls in Illinois.
Cutter Kirgan, a seventh grader, will go to state in both the shot and the discus.
Tyn Burdock, seventh grader, will go in the discus.
Emma Jones, seventh grade, will go in the shot put.
Elizabeth Hirst, seventh grade, will go in the discus.
Aubree Whitlock, a sixth grader, will go in the 100m hurdles.
From Western, Collyn Forbis qualified for state in the 100m dash, the 400m dash, the 800m dash, and the 1600 run.
From Griggsville-Perry: eighth grade: Eli Craig, 200m dash, Quentin Booker, 800 m dash, Quentin Booker, Eli Craig, Eli Musgrave, Kason Brown, Quentin Booker, 4 X 200, Eli Musgrave, Logan Sidwell, Kason Brown and Kendall Scranton, 4X400, high jump, Quentin Booker, long jump, Quentin Booker,
The eighth grade team was the 1A section 10 champions.’
Lydia Kurfman, a seventh grader was first in the 1600m run, qualifying her for state.
Pikeland Community School is considered a 3A school and will compete at sectionals this week.
