Greenfield-Northwestern scored three runs in the first inning and beat West Central 7-0 in the semifinals of the WIVC Baseball Tournament May 6 in Jacksonville.
The Cougars loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the fifth inning. Carson Brown walked, Dalton Hutton doubled, and Landyn Woods walked before Caden Meyer flew out to left field to end the inning.
Greenfield-Northwestern scored three unearned runs on just one hit in the bottom of the first. West Central committed two errors, had a passed ball and a wild pitch in the inning.
G-NW added one run in the fifth inning and three in the fifth inning.
Dalton Hutton went 1-for-3 with a double, and Mason Berry went 1-for-3 for the Cougars. West Central had just two hits.
Cameron Sievers pitched four innings and suffered the loss. He allowed four runs but just one earned. He gave up three hits, walked two and struck out seven.
