The Jersey Community Unit School District 100 Board of Education will be holding a special board meeting on Monday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. at the District Office at 100 Lincoln Avenue in Jerseyville.
The meeting is taking place to appoint a new member to the board to fill the vacancy left by former School Board President Greg Brown.
Brown’s resignation was announced during the June board meeting when former acting Vice President Peggy Perdun took over the role as President.
During the meeting, Perdun read Brown’s resignation letter to the board which read:
““Dear Jersey Community Unit School District #100 School Board. I am writing to formally resign from my position as President of the Jersey Community Unit School District #100 School Board effective immediately. Serving as President of the School Board has been an honor and a deeply rewarding experience. During my tenure, I’ve had the privilege to work alongside dedicated board members, administrators, teachers, and community members. Together we have navigated challenges and celebrated numerous achievements that have positively impacted our students and their education. However, after careful consideration and recent decisions and conversations, I have decided that it is time for me to step down. This decision was not easy but I believe it is in the best interest of both my personal commitments and continued success of the School Board. I am confident that the board will continue to advance our mission and uphold the high standards that we have set. Thank you for the support and trust you have placed in me over the years. Sincerely, Greg Brown.”
