Sept. 18, 1924
Work on Rocky Hill in west Hardin, is going forward at a rapid rate and the work already done is very fine. When this road is completed it will be an excellent piece of work and it will be a wonderful improvement over the old hill roadway. The traveling public will find it a pleasure to travel up and down this hill when completed. A look at the work already done will convince anyone that it is money well spent.
Sept. 22, 1949
Residents of Calhoun’s river vicinity reported during the weekend that mallard ducks have been coming into the area. The species generally arrive last in the list of migratory waterfowl. Teal and other types of ducks have been present in the locality for several weeks. Cold and snow in the north are believed to have been responsible for the early arrival of the mallards.

A special election will be held to vote on a proposed tax levy for the ambulance service which is being started for Calhoun County. The tax levy will not exceed. 25 percent of the assessed valuation of all taxable property in Calhoun County if approved by voters. The Commissioners have said they would use only that amount of the tax necessary to carry on the operation of the ambulance.

A resolution accepting the newly installed water line in Winneberg Subdivision in Golden Eagle was approved at the Calhoun Rural Water District Board’s meeting. The subdivision developers have dedicated the subdivision roadways to the public use and have granted all of the necessary easements within the subdivision to install the water main extension and whatever is necessary to continue to maintain the extension in the future.
