The City of Grafton and the Grafton Chamber of Commerce presented Michael, Peg and Nickie Brooks with Certificates of Appreciation for their dedication to the Music in the Park summer concert series. Pictured left to right are Mike Brooks, Dan Ebbing, Peg Brooks, Mike Morrow, and Nickie Brooks.
Michael, Peg and Nickie Brooks were each presented with Certificates of Appreciation from the Grafton City Council and Grafton Chamber of Commerce at the city’s regular council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The Brooks were recognized for their dedication and hard work with the annual summer concert series, Grafton’s Music in the Park, which takes place every Thursday at The Grove Memorial Park throughout the summer season.
Grafton Mayor Mike Morrow said the 2024 Music in the Park season was another great success, but wouldn’t be possible without the Brooks family and the Grafton Chamber of Commerce.
“Music in the Park wouldn’t exist as it does today without the hard work and dedication of Peg Brooks and her family team who orchestrate the events. Solid backup came from the Grafton Chamber of Commerce, (Dan Ebbing, President), that sponsored the 15 weeks of family fun and from Jake Weber and his Public Works crew who kept The Grove Memorial Park in top shape,” Mayor Morrow said.
Peg Brooks researches and books the bands each season but couldn’t do it without the invaluable help from Mike and Nickie. Peg said this past season was amazing with 15 weeks of music and only one week with some rain.
“The number of individual sponsors mushroomed this year, with a grand total of 50, up from about 12 in the earlier years. They made it possible to increase the size and number of bands,” Peg said.
With the help of the city and community members, the rain couldn’t prevent everyone from coming together for the weekly concert.
“When that park flooded, it was probably the biggest testament to our city. I put the word out and people came,” Peg said.
Bands are already booked for next summer’s 2025 Music in the Park and the Brooks, the city and the chamber are excited to welcome families back to The Grove Memorial Park for the 2025 Music in the Park season.
