The St. John’s Lady Redbirds suffered their first loss of the season Friday at the State tournament in Bloomington falling to the LeRoy Lady Panthers 9-1.
The Lady Panthers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. They ended up scoring three runs in the first inning and added another run in the third, three more in the fourth inning and two in the fifth.
Kadyn Lake was on the mound for the Lady Redbirds allowing 10 hits and 9 runs, four of them earned runs, over six innings. She struck out five and walked 4.
The Lady Redbirds collected only five hits in the game with Shyann Grafford collecting two of them in 3 at bats. Bailey Eilerman went 1 for 3 at the plate and drove in St. John’s only run.
The Lady Panthers ran wild on the base paths, tallying 8 stolen bases.
The Lady Redbirds ended their season with a record of 16 wins and only 1 loss.
