Senior Volleyball players and their parents were recognized Wednesday, Oct. 23, before the varsity game against the Jerseyville Panthers at the James A. Ringhausen Gymnasium. Seniors are Caydence Sievers, Lacy Pohlman, Abby Jones, Joy Hurley, Josie Hoagland, Audrey Gilman and Kate Zipprich. The Warriors went on to beat the Jersey Panthers 25-10 and 25-13.
The Lady Warriors were also named Waverly Tournament Champions on Saturday, Oct. 19.
“Lacey Pohlman and Kate played amazing and both made all tournament team. Joy Hurley had a strong game at the net and on defense. Josie Hoagland made so many amazing digs and hit her 1000 dig in the Southeastern game. Stella Gress played her best games of the season. She is really getting comfortable in her new role at right side. Leila Schulte played some strong defense and served 12 points in the championship game,” Coach Melissa Zipprich said.
Senior Josie Hoagland got 1000 digs for her Calhoun High School career as a Lady Warrior as the Warriors were named champions of the Waverly Tournament. Next Fall Josie will continue playing volleyball at the college level receiving an athletic scholarship to Spoon River College in Canton. Josie is the daughter of Joe and Lacey Hoagland.
