Pete and Caryl Parsell have been married for 72 years. They were married on March 22, 1953, at St. Paul Evangelist and Reformed Church in Carlinville, IL. Pete is a retired farmer and Caryl is a retired bookkeeper.
The Couple met at Pere Marquette Lodge at a Jersey County Rural Youth District Meeting. They are the parents of three sons. Arlin (Connie), Barry (Emily), and Scott (Jennie). They have seven grandchildren. Stacia, Erica, Garrett, Amelia, John, Bonnie and Elecia, and eight great grandchildren, Annabelle, Caroline, Jack, Andrew, Seamus, Conor, Ryan and Dylan.
Pete served four years in the Air National Guard before entering full-time farming in 1955. His love of farming and music was a big part of his life. As he always said “a farmer never retires.”
Caryl worked for County Financial and Schneider Seed for 25 years. Beinga mother and a farmer’s wife were foremost in her life.
