Henry Zimmerman of Golden Eagle has long been known as Calhoun’s champion fox and wolf hunter. He keeps a string of high bred hounds that know their business thoroughly, and besides the fox and wolf dogs, he also has one coonhound that attends strictly to the coon business. Zimmerman has his own little private museum in the upstairs of his father’s huge farm home near the Mississippi Bluffs. Strung up on a rack in this room are one hundred four prime fox skins, the result of only the last three years. The most prized thing in his collection is the huge black wolf which he killed about two years ago. The animal was mounted for him by an amatuer St. Louis taxidermist.

During the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners’ meeting on March 9, the commissioners acted on a request made by the Calhoun Planning Commission. The Planning Commission requested that the county pass an ordinance making it illegal to litter on the county roads. State’s Attorney Charles Burch said that the state already has such an ordinance which covers littering on the county roads as well as on the state’s roads. The state’s penalty is stricter than any that the county could pass.
