Tammy Faye Gansz Tepen, 52 of Greenup, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024. She was a beacon of positivity, courage and generosity. She was very passionate about researching glioblastoma multiforme. Facing this challenging illness head-on, she made the profound decision to give a final gift by donating her entire body to medical research so this devastating disease could be further understood and maybe help someone in the future.
Tammy was born in Jerseyville on Nov. 9, 1971, to Sandra and Darrell Gansz. She is survived by her loving children, Tyler Tepen and fiance, Abigail of St. Louis, Missouri, Terah “Alexis” Tepen of Las Vegas, Nevada; her parents, Sandy Gansz of Rural Greenup, IL, and Darrell Gansz of New Concord, Kentucky, a step-mother Rachel Gansz, brother Darrell Gansz, Jr. “DJ,” and grandmother, Rachel “Odell” Fowler, all of Jerseyville, IL, her sister Stacy (Michael) Callahan of Martinsville, IL. Her three nieces, Emily and Ashley Callahan also of Martinsville, IL, and Charissa (Austin) Zerrusen, of Marshall, IL. And one great nephew, Colson Zerrusen, of Marshall, IL. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her twin brothers, Timothy and Duane Gansz; Grandparents: Fred Sr. and Elsie Gansz of Jerseyville, IL; Rupert and Eleanor Gernigin of Carrollton, IL; Ralph and Edna Craig of Casey, IL.
Tammy was a loving mother, daughter, stepdaughter, sister, and aunt. She was very supportive and an incredible friend to many people. She never met a stranger and enjoyed conversing with people. She had a wealth of useful knowledge about random facts. She was an avid sports fan; she loved her Dallas Cowboys, St. Louis Cardinals, Illini, and the St. Louis Blues.
A celebration of life for Tammy will be conducted at Fairview Park, 401 E. Monroe St., Casey, IL, on April 19, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m.
