Sharon Louise Rice | 86 | Jacksonville

Sharon Louise Talkington Castleberry Rice, 86, of Jacksonville and formerly of White Hall passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025 at White Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Feb. 5, 1939 in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Curtis and Ruby Jean Watson Talkington. She married Harold Castleberry and later married Russell Rice in 1992.She is survived by her husband, Russell Rice of Jacksonville; one daughter, Peggy Cook of Jacksonville; four sons, Craig (Janet) Castleberry and Tod Castleberry both of Jacksonville, Darrin (Chris) Castleberry of Carrollton and Curt (Mickey) Castleberry of White Hall; three step-sons, Rick (Sue) Rice of Roodhouse, Randy (Kathy) Rice of Jackson, TN and Doug (Kim) Rice of Edmond, OK ; one step-daughter, Dana (Keith) Hall of Portland, TN; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Lawson of Jacksonville and Marla (Jess) Groves of Patterson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Talkington (surviving wife, Pat of Lincoln) and Michael Talkington (surviving wife, Thelma of Jerseyville).
Mrs. Rice worked at Lundia in Jacksonville for many years and later at the White Hall Hospital. She was also a Home Care Giver.  She was a member of the Church of Christ in Jacksonville. She loved going to yard sales. She enjoyed doing embroidery and working jigsaw puzzles and word searches.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with private burial at Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
