The Jerseyville Planning and Zoning Board met last Thursday, May 15, to discuss rezoning the property at 209 South Washington Street.
The petition was submitted by Tammy Shireman to rezone the property from R-5 to B-3, with special use for alcohol.
Shireman said the property will be used for an event space, the Bell Haus, which will host birthday parties, wedding receptions, class reunions, showers and different events.
Shireman also said they plan to take the old garage behind the building to use the space as a new patio, and added that the space will just be used for events and not as a bar in the evenings.
Before closing the meeting, the board also approved the reappointments of Ken Breden, Jennifer Doody, and Jeff Heitzig to the Planning and Zoning Board.
The petition will go to the City Council for final approval. City Council meets again on Tuesday, May 27, at 6 p.m.
