JERSEY: McCarry Dairyland expands with indoor seating and hard scoop ice cream
By Steven Spencer
McCarry’s Dairyland was able to expand this season with added indoor seating and new menu items, and to celebrate, Dairyland welcomed the community on Saturday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a big celebration.
Jay Jones said when the space in the former Medicine Shoppe became available next door they were able to renovate the space with indoor tables and booths, expand their outdoor seating and add a new selection of hard scoop ice cream.
Renovations started in January so the space was ready to serve customers last month with expanded offerings from Ginger Bean Bakery and 14 rotating flavors of hard scoop ice cream from Cedar Crest Ice Cream.
Jones said it’s like a night and day difference, and with great support from the community and customers keeping the 30-plus employees busy it was much needed.
This month also marks two years since Jones and his wife took ownership of Dairyland, and to recognize all these milestones there was a grand open celebration with free hotdogs, a petting zoo, plenty of ice cream and a ribbon cutting with the Jersey County Business Association.
Jones thanked the community and customers for their support but said they would not be able to run without the hardworking McCarry Dairyland employees.
“This place wouldn’t operate without our staff, and they’re second to none. We run seven days a week and we run pretty hard.” Jones said. “Without them I would not be able to do this.”
