Our Village is feeling the loss this week of two amazing guys.
Wade Gibson passed away on June 19, with his family by his side. Wade served as Mayor of our village on two different occasions. In 1993 when he stepped in his mayor, he was the youngest Mayor ever in the state of Illinois. Wade was one of the original organizers helping to get the Kampsville Summer Celebration started. Also helping with organizing the Kampsville Christmas Party. Wade was a very giving person, always reaching out to help others and always helping organize anytime someone was in need of a benefit. He was an amazing hairdresser, and personally an amazing friend to me. Visitation will be Friday June 27 from 5-8 p.m. in Hardin. Wade’s family plans to continue his legacy of giving, forming the “Papa Toodles Foundation.” Please keep James, Whitney, Britney, Jarod, Debbie and his grandchildren in your thoughts and prayers.
Perry Wheeler passed away unexpectedly Saturday. Perry was very active in our Legion. Always taking care of everything that needed to be done at the bar. Helping to put the flags on the poles and anything our Legion was doing. He also helped every year frying fish at the summer celebration. Anytime I need help with anything here in town I could reach out to him. I used to joke that he probably hated to see me coming. Never did tell me that he couldn’t help. He will be greatly missed by many. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as well.
