The Jerseyville Planning and Zoning Board approved two rezoning items at their meeting on Thursday, July 17.
A petition to rezone the future site of Joe’s Pizza and Pasta from B-3 to B-3 with special use for alcohol was approved by the board and sent to the city council for final approval.
The business owners said they anticipate opening at the beginning of August, and told the board it will be similar to the Godfrey restaurant which offers Chicago Style pizza, thin crust pizza, subs, pasta and more.
A petition to rezone property on State Street from B-2 to B-3 with intended use as a restaurant was also approved by the board and sent to council for final approval.
The petition was submitted by MBR IL LLC for property at 216/218 S. State Street.
Director Building and Zoning Jeff Soer said this rezoning clarifies the classification for Dominio’s at 216 and for a new take-out hibachi restaurant that will be coming in next door at 218.
Before closing the meeting the board thanked Soer for his years of dedicated service as Director of Building and Zoning with Thursday being his last meeting before retirement.
The board also welcomed Derek Russell as the new director. The County Board accepted Russell’s formal resignation as Code Administrator at the Tuesday, July 15, board meeting.
The County Board thanked Russell and said he will be missed.
Russell told the board he is still currently helping the Chief Deputy of that office in the transition to help keep things moving.
