If you’d like to help support the Meals on Wheels program through the West Central Illinois Nutrition Project, they are currently holding a “Holiday Pie Extravaganza” fundraiser. Orders can be placed between Nov. 1 and December 19. Pies will be available for pickup on the date that you specify. (Five-day notice for Pittsfield pickup at Senior Center w/Jill Kunzeman.) The following items are available to order: Apple, Pumpkin, Cherry, Pecan, Blackberry Cobbler, or Assorted Treat Tray. Cost is $17 per item. Make plans to attend the Craft/Vendor Show Nov. 29 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Senior Center in Pittsfield (220 W. Adams St.). Vendor fees and raffle proceeds will benefit the Griggsville City Cemetery. Contact Rachel Baker or Kathy Buchanan with any questions.
Griggsville United Methodist Women in Faith are currently taking orders for their individual, frozen, unbaked ham loaves. Loaves are three for $15. Contact Linda Patton at 217-370-8020 or Alice Cripe at 217-653-5631 to place your order.
The City of Griggsville’s Beautification Committee is currently taking donations for the Griggsville Veterans Memorial Park. Following are a couple of ways you can help give toward this project: 1) Beginning Nov. 1, and running through December 20weekly drawings will be held for a chance to win a gun raffle. The weekly winning ticket will be added back into the following weekly drawings until the last gun is raffled. There are eight chances to win! Tickets may be purchased at Griggsville City Hall (1 ticket is $25; 5 tickets are $100; Checks payable to “Griggsville Beautification Fund”) Call 833-5000 with any questions. 2) Logan Agri-Service will run its “Fill Up. Give Back. Honor Our Heroes” campaign from now through Jan. 31. Logan’s will donate three cents per gallon of gas purchased to support the Memorial Park project. These are two great ways to help bring the Veterans Memorial Park to fruition. Please consider helping!
The Tornadoes for LIFE class is looking for donations of baking ingredients and supplies for their upcoming cookie walk scheduled for Dec. 5 at the high school basketball game. Items needed include flour, sugar (white, brown & powdered), chocolate chips, butter, M&M’s, Hershey kisses, Christmas sprinkles, peppermint candies, and dried fruits, plastic containers to freeze cookies in, and plastic Christmas platters. Donated items may be delivered to the high school main office.
