Saturday was a beautiful day for a road trip and some Calhoun Warrior football. We all traveled to the “small town of big things.” Casey, Il. Just under six hour round-trip, but it was so worth it. I think we had more people there than the actual team that was from there. It was a stressful game at times but the Warriors rallied back winning 28-1. There were smiles and tears and everything that makes for the best kind of football victory. Next week the Warriors will face the Brown County Hornets on our home field kickoff at 1 p.m.
Congratulations to Calhoun Warriors Charlie Matthews IHSFCA All State First Team and Jake Brannan IHSFCA Honorable Mention.
Jake broke the Calhoun record set by Jonah White for all time rushing in a single season In Saturday’s game against Casey-Westfield he scored his 24th rushing touchdown.
Congratulations on being chosen All Conference Warrior Volleyball player Annie Wilson, Sadie Kiel, Leila Shulte and Stella Gress.
Saturday was also a beautiful day for a wedding. Congratulations AJ Hillen and Alexis (Klocke ) Hillen who were married Saturday at McCully Heritage with reception and dance at the KC Hall in Hardin.
This weekend, in addition to warrior football. You’re gonna wanna come to Kampsville for the Calhoun Entertainment Company play “Arsenic and Old Lace,” I’ve had the opportunity to sit in on a few of the practices and it’s very good. Showtimes are 7 p.m November 21 and 22, and 2 p.m. on November 23.
The Bank of Kampsville is hosting a food drive this year. No donation is too small . Your items can be dropped off at any Bank of Kampsville location beginning November 10. Donations will benefit. St. Vincent DePaul, Weekend Power Pack and the Pleasant Hill Christian Church Food Bank.
St. Anselm’s Game Night December 6.Doors open at 5 p.m. games begin at 6 p.m. The menu includes chicken and dumplings, hot dogs, chicken salad, chips, desserts and drinks.
Don’t forget the amazing quilt raffle. A very special quilt is being raffled. Quilted by Betty Hayn, Helen Vetter, Judy Benz, Sherry Klunk, Cecilia Hayn and Maymie Petrowski.
Also St. Anslem’s Hall can be rented out for any of your events. to rent contact the church office.
Don’t forget the Sons of the Legion Meat Shoot every Sunday afternoon in November 1-3. Also, our Queen hasn’t been found so you’re gonna want to get your queen of hearts tickets.
