Pike County will have two boys baseball teams this spring. Western and a co-op between Pittsfield, Griggsville-Perry and pleasant Hill. The co-op will be in affect for this season and the 2025-26 season. In the past 30 years, the number of high school baseball teams has dwindled from six to now, two.
The motion passed the Pikeland Board at their Jan. 21 meeting following a nearly one hour closed session meeting in which a number of issues were discussed. including the semi-annual destruction of closes session meetings from 2024, approval of a maintenance grant, approval of an overnight trip for the FFA and general employment and extra-curricular matters.
Those matters included: the resignation of Angie Ruebush as the assistant superintendent, the hiring of Angie Ruebush as a district administrator, Becky Robinson as the district behavioral coach, Whitley Cooper as full time speech and language pathologist for t;he 2026-27 school year, Jo Gari McCartney, a volunteer transfer to PHS for the 2026-27 school year, Kayla Riley, a voluntary transfer to South Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. Sydnee Heatherly, a move from part-tome paraprofessional to full-time paraprofessional starting Feb. 9.
