It’s nice and sunny and bright. We are now in the first week of March. So far, we are coming in like a lamb. The weather predictions sound like a few days of rain though. Let’s hope for the sunny weather.
Paul and Anna Sievers of St. Charles Missouri are the proud parents of their third child, Forrest Allen Sievers. He was born Feb. 13, 2026. Baby Forrest weighed 7 lbs. 15 oozes. and was 20.5 inches long. His siblings are Aubrey age 6, and Jack age 4. The grandparents are Roy and Hellen Sievers, and Great Grandmother is Mary Ann Godar. Congratulations to all!
The Calhoun Warriors played Pawnee Wednesday and won the 1A Regional Tournament. They will play again this week against Nokomis. Go Warriors go!
Our sympathy goes out to the family of Mary Ann Tepen who recently passed away.
St. Barbara Church is having a Spring Turtle Soup Supper Saturday, April 11. It will be served in the church basement. The church has a chair lift to help those unable to go up and down stairs. The Supper will help St. Barbara Church make enough revenue for their annual expenses, and help all of us who love Turtle Soup to have the delicious soup and dine with friends. Mark your calendar and come to the Turtle Soup Supper on Saturday, April 11.
The Ladies Deanery CCW will meet on March 11, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Church at 8:40 a.m. There will be at 9 a.m. Mass. Registration and the meeting will follow at the KC Hall 397 N. State Street. Fr. Martin Smith will speak about St. Joseph at the meeting.
The Calhoun Entertainment Co. are now practicing for the upcoming Spring Musical, “Annie.” The music and acting is directed by Jerry Sievers. The show will be held March 26, 27, 28, and 29 at the Kampsville Center for Archeology. Tickets are available at the banks, Northside Grocery, the Banks, and Hardin Package Liquor
Mary Ann Bailey and daughter, Robin Hillen took a trip to Alabama to Rosemarie Randazzo who recently had surgery and is now recovering. Rosemarie is also Mary Ann’s daughter. All enjoyed the visit. We wish Rosemarie a good recovery.
Vera Ann Klockenkemper visited her sister Elda, and her daughters Tayna, and Tammy at her home Wed.
John and Terry Rexing joined Gary Snyders for the Fish Supper. All of us had a good time visiting.
Delmar and Barb Bick had the fish special and visited with family and friends at the Fill Inn Station.
Eldon Johnes returned home this week after a recent hospital stay. He was greeted by his wife Christine and family. A visit with family followed. Glad you are home, Eldon!
There have been a few fires across the county this past week. The ground is dry and we are advised not to burn.
Tim and Kelly Bick celebrated their Anniversary Saturday, Feb. 28. Happy Anniversary, we wish you many more!
The Calhoun Historical Society is located at 108 East Main Street in Hardin, just across the street from the gas station. They are open Tuesday and Wednesday.
Cindy Mazorus, Bonnie Stepanek, Angie Russell, and Linda Russell attended the Game Day at St. Anselm’s Church Sunday. All had a good time.
Karen Hannelen and Elaine Titus saw the musical The Phantom of the Opera last Sunday at the Fox Theater in St. Louis. They enjoyed the day and the musical.
The Cornerstone Church has their Sunday Service at 10:45 a.m. The Bible Class is every Wednesday at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
Dr. Jacob Maag has a Veterinarian Service at the Batchtown American Legion Building every Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
